SOFTWARE,

& EVERYTHING BETWEEN.

I mod VR games, build web apps, design PCBs and 3D-printed products, and self-host it all on my own homelab.

About

I'm Trey Butler, a developer and engineer in Mississippi. I dabbled in code for years, but in 2022 it stopped being a casual hobby and became the thing I do every day.

I'm a fast learner and a stubborn problem solver — I brute-force my way to understanding, then refine it through trial and error and the good mentoring I've been lucky to have. These days that means VR game mods built on BepInEx and il2cpp hooking, web apps, PCB and CAD work on physical products, and a Proxmox homelab that hosts whatever I make next.

Experience

Junior Engineer @ Glo

2025 — PRESENT · STARKVILLE, MS

Prototyping and development across Glo’s products and internal infrastructure — PCB design, CAD modeling, and programming for everything from a smart children’s toy to the industrial equipment Glo uses in its warehouses for product fulfillment. The work changes almost weekly, which is exactly how I like it.

Design Build Specialist @ MSU Idea Shop

2024 — 2025 · STARKVILLE, MS

Staffed the university makerspace: helped customers with equipment and troubleshooting, ran 3D prints, soldered, did woodwork and CAD design, and kept the shop running day to day.

Jr. Product Design Engineer @ Casey Interactive

2023 — 2024 · THOMASVILLE, AL

Prototyped products and released designs to clients alongside an experienced product design engineer — PCBs in KiCAD, CAD in Fusion 360, FDM/SLA printing, Arduino and Raspberry Pi work in C++ on Linux, and small-scale manufacturing and assembly at the end of my time there.

LET'S BUILD
SOMETHING.

I'm happily employed, but I'm open to paid contract work on the side, collaborating with other builders, and problems I find interesting. Email is the fastest way to reach me.
